Setting up two-factor authentication (2FA)
At EmailOctopus, we highly recommend setting up two-factor authentication (2FA) on your account for added security and to prevent unauthorised access.
You'll find the option to start setup under the Security heading in your profile.

You can use any of the popular two-factor authentication apps such as Google Authenticator, Authy or Yubico. If you use an Apple mobile device, you can also set it up using the built-in iOS feature.
Make sure to keep your authentication app safe, as you might not be able to recover your account if you lose access to the app.
I'm prompted to provide a six-digit code, but EmailOctopus doesn't show up in my authentication app
If you use an Apple device and you've set up two-factor authentication with the built-in iOS feature, you'll need to go to your device's Settings and select Passwords. Find EmailOctopus (or however you named it when you set up the 2FA), then tap Copy Verification Code. Return to the EmailOctopus log in screen, then paste the verification code into the field.
I signed up with Google, and there's no security section in my account. How can I set up 2FA?
If you created your EmailOctopus account by signing up with Google, you won't be able to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) directly within EmailOctopus. Instead, you should be able to enable 2FA directly in your Google account using options such as a Google passkey or the Google Authenticator app, depending on your account's security settings.
If you created your account using regular credentials and use our 2FA feature, but decide to link your Google account at any point, you will still be asked for a 2FA code when logging in with your credentials. If you log in with Google, we won't ask for that 2FA code.
Additionally, to link or unlink a regular EmailOctopus account with Google, you will have to provide the 2FA code (if enabled).
