Tracking campaigns in Google Analytics

To add UTM parameters to the links in your campaign, so that they can be tracked in Google Analytics, toggle the setting to "on" in the "Advanced settings" panel.

In accordance with Google's specification, the following UTM parameters are added to each of your links when Google Analytics link tracking is enabled.

  • utm_source: emailoctopus
  • utm_medium: email
  • utm_campaign: the name of your campaign

We'll only add the UTM parameters if they're not already specified on the links: your custom parameters will always take precedence. This means that you can add your own custom UTM parameters to the links within your campaign. For example, if you want to use a 'utm_campaign' value of 'YourCustomValue' on one of your links, modify the link so it looks like this:

https://example.com/?utm_campaign=YourCustomValue
