Managing rows and content blocks
When building an email template in a drag and drop editor, there are some rules on how to manage rows and content blocks to achieve a clean and responsive design.
A content block refers to any element in an email, such as images, text, or buttons. Rows serve as the structural foundation of your email, dividing the layout into sections and ensuring consistent display across various screen sizes and email clients. Without rows, content blocks cannot be arranged or positioned correctly.
To add a content block correctly to your template, you need to first place a row block and then add the content block inside of it.
Another core rule for our drag and drop editor is that rows cannot be placed inside other rows. The new row can only be added at the top or bottom of the existing row. This prevents overly complex structures that can disrupt the overall email layout.
If you can't place a new row where you'd like it to go, it's possible that all of your content blocks are added to a single row. If that's the case, you won't be able to place a new row between those content blocks. In this situation, you would need to divide your content and move the content blocks to separate rows to achieve the desired layout. If your content blocks are placed in separate rows, you will be able to add new rows above and below them.
To shift the content blocks into a different row, simply drag a new row block to your email content and drag the content blocks into that new row.
If you'd like to prevent this from happening, we'd recommend using separate rows for each section of your email so that you can easily add new rows wherever you'd like.
